The Golden Movie Awards is an annual award that seeks to honor outstanding achievement in the African television, digital media and film industries and is administered by the expert in the Cinema & Television, the Awards recognizes film Excellence in a variety of categories for an international appeal.

The Governing Board will also present one Lifetime Achievement Award, Golden Humanitarian Award and Golden Visionary Award.

It is not a popularity based awards but a performance based awards and the power to determine who wins what is in the sole hands of the Grand Jury. With the only two categories in the hands of the public, which is the favorite characters.

The Awards which is instituted by NMJ GHANA and its African and international partners seeks to bring together key film professionals, craftspeople and decision‐makers from across Africa, to honor, celebrate and promote the talent and accomplishments of the African, film industries.

Submission of films for possible nominations for the Golden Movie Awards will be from January 14th 2016 to February 28th 2016. The qualifying year for the 2016 is   ONLY films PRODUCED but not necessarily released commercially from 1st January, 2015 to 31st December, 2015

Even though every film producer/maker can file their characters for consideration, the jury however at its own discretion can nominate a film or a character for an award based on performance.

The Jury and organizer will send out a Call‐for‐Entries to film makers/producers across Africa. Official Rules and Regulations of the awards are posted on the official website including application forms available for download. Entrants are to submit their films and forms:

  2. Through the office of Golden Movie Awards in NMJ building

Any film that meets the current eligibility criteria may enter for consideration.

Entries must be submitted (signed) by the owner of the film or the owner’s Authorized Representative with respect to the rules.
